Vancomycin (VCM), an effective treatment for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections, has a narrow therapeutic window (trough levels: 6.4–13.5 μM) and poses a risk of acute kidney injury at high concentrations. Current latex immunoturbidimetric methods can only provide single-point measurements, relying on intermittent testing. In this study, we aimed to achieve high-sensitivity and real-time measurement of VCM by developing a surface plasmon hydrogel aptasensor. This sensor utilizes surface plasmon polaritons effectively by immobilizing peptide aptamers within a three-dimensional hydrogel matrix.
