The spin angular momentum (SAM) of electrons in quantum dots can be coherently controlled by inducing Rabi oscillations with optical pulses. Higher modes of electrons confined in axially symmetric structures have not only SAM but also orbital angular momentum (OAM), and their OAM states can be controlled by light modes carrying OAM (higher-order photons). In this study, we calculate the Rabi oscillations of the electronic state when irradiated by higher-order photons and show that the OAM of electrons can be coherently manipulated.
