The opposed-target sputtering system can vaporize metal atoms in a plasma discharge, making it suitable for spectroscopic measurements of gaseous metals and very useful as a method to obtain electronic state spectra with high sensitivity. Although there have been reports of spectra of Zr I atoms in the ultraviolet region, there are few reports of spectra in the near-infrared region, so the high-precision data reported here are very useful. In this study, we measured multiple transitions of Zr I atoms in the a5FJ→z5FJ region, including the a5F2→z5F1 transition in the near-infrared region.
