Samples with varying junction conditions between the CNT tip and the cooling source were investigated by transient thermal response. Vertically oriented CNT forests were synthesised on a substrate and the change in contact thermal resistance was investigated by depositing Al on the CNT tips. The obtained transient cooling curves were numerically converted into a structure function and the thermal resistance of the sample was estimated by decomposing the step structure.
