Optical activity (OA) and circular dichroism (CD) in crystals are 10-2 to 10-5 times smaller than optical anisotropy and difficult to measure. We have developed a Generalized-High Accuracy Universal Polarimeter (G-HAUP) that enables the simultaneous measurement of OA and CD in anisotropic media. In this study, we modified the G-HAUP to enable low-temperature cooling, and measured OA and CD of Bi2212 using the G-HAUP to investigate the existence of spatial inversion symmetry and time reversal symmetry.
