The bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structure applied to organic photodiodes (OPDs) is a blend of donor (D) and acceptor (A) materials, and is expected to improve photoelectric conversion efficiency due to the presence of a D/A interface throughout the DA layer. The general BHJ structure is solution-deposited, but examples using vacuum evaporation have also been reported. In this study, BHJ-type OPDs with DA layers deposited by the co-evaporation method were fabricated, and their performance was evaluated with the aim of reducing dark current density and improving photoelectric conversion efficiency.
