GeSn alloys offers potential as efficient light sources for seamless integration with silicon (Si) photonics chips. In this study, we demonstrate a silicon-ridge waveguide based optically pumped GeSn slab laser. The GeSn active layer integrates a silicon ridge structure on its surface, leading to substantial optical confinement and achieving lasing action.
