A multiple quantum well (MQW) microring resonator (MRR) electroabsorption modulator (MRR-EAM) with an ultra-low driving voltage operation at 4.2 K is proposed for optical interconnection in a superconducting supercomputer. By combining a single MRR and an EAM, a driving voltage is expected to be significantly reduced to as low as approximately 70 mV.
