It is my great honor to be awarded "Optics and Quantum Electronics Achievement Award" and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the members of the award committee. As stated in the award citation, I have conducted research in two areas of optoelectronics: integrated photonics and novel optical fibers. The themes of my research have been both serendipitous discoveries and the creation of ideas to solve problems. I would like to introduce some of the trials, continuation, and repetition of these research studies for the future generations' reference.
