[22p-12E-3]Simulation analysis of converter layer and solar cell selection in solar cell type neutron dosimeters

We are developing a neutron dosimeter consisting of a converter film which converts neutrons into other radiation species and a solar cell. We used Monte Carlo calculations to analyze how the combination of the converter film and solar cell changes the characteristics of the dosimeter. We created a dosimeter model assuming that the converter films were Gd2O3, B4C, and LiF films, and that the solar cells were InGaP and crystalline Si. We performed calculation of the energy absorbed by the solar cells when thermal neutron was irradiated to the dosimeter. It was found that the combination of Gd2O3 film and crystalline Si solar cell had the highest sensitivity.
