The origin of photon emitters (PEs) in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) remains uncertain. This study compared photoluminescence (PL) and Nano-FTIR spectroscopy results in annealed organically solvent-immersed hBN. Our findings indicate that emissive/non-emissive spots in PL correlate with FTIR spectra presence/absence of the 1650 cm-1 peak, which is associated with the carbonyl group (C=O) stretching vibration in organic compounds.
