When an intense infrared femtosecond laser is focused through a microscope on cells and cell culture media, shock and stress waves are effectively generated at the laser focal point. By optimizing the laser intensity, these waves act on individual cells as an impulse, which allows to stimulate and to manipulate them at the single cell level. This presentation shows the application technologies of the impulse to biological cell materials developed by us. It also shows the future perspectives.
