Smart agriculture, which utilizes cutting-edge technology, is a national initiative aimed at ensuring the survival of Japan's agriculture, which is in a critical situation due to the declining and aging number of farmers. However, introducing and utilizing the advanced technologies such as robotics, ICT, IoT and so on, into the agricultural field is not easy. There are many issues that need to be resolved before implementing it in society. From the viewpoint of the human resource development, which is the key point to sucess it, I would like to report on the knowledge obtained from the activities of the sugarcane smart agriculture project in Okinawa.
