As process informatics (PI) and other new information technologies permeate the manufacturing industry, the significance of engineers and researchers must also be reviewed. In this presentation, we will introduce examples of process informatics applications that are being introduced in the manufacturing industry, and present how PI and other AI technologies should be utilized, and what scientists and engineers should be in the 21st century.
