It has been known so far that the change in oxygen saturation of the skin tissue varies the shape of spectral reflectance in a visible wavelength range. In the present study, we estimated quantitatively the correlation between oxygen saturation and differential reflectance value in relation to the scattering and absorption of the skin tissue by means of a differential analysis of skin spectral reflectance obtained by simulation based on Monte Carlo method. We further investigated the feasibility of the present method for estimating oxygen saturation easily from the spectral reflectance without employing the multivariate analysis.
