I propose the basic structure of a laser power converter (LPC) on the basis of intermediate-band solar cells. 808 nm photons incident from a high-power and low-cost laser diode excite electrons directly, while 1470 nm eye-safe-laser photons used in urban districts excite electrons by two steps via the intermediate band. Further, this LPC functions as a highly efficient solar cell. The conversion efficiencies for 808 nm light, 1470 nm light, and solar light in the radiative limit are competitive with those conventional single-function devices dedicated.
