Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is a two-dimentional material with high thermal conductivity and excellent electrical insulation property. It is considered for using as filler particles in heat dissipation materials for flexible electronic substrates. In this study, femtosecond laser was focused into a suspension of hBN particles in water to generate plasma in water, aimed to evaluate the effects on the surface property of hBN and its dispersibility in water. Chemical modification of hBN, and consequently improved dispersibility, was confirmed.
