A wideband (3-20µm) mid-infrared spectrometer is used to discriminate and measure gas species outdoors. In the case of transmission optics, the measurement wavelength range is limited to 8-14 µm by an antireflection coating. Therefore, we have constructed a broadband (3-20 µm) mid-infrared spectrometer by using a reflective optical system with free-form mirrors1) . In this paper, we report the detection of carbon dioxide gas (CO2: 4.25 µm) against a sunlight background.
