We propose the detection of molecules in giant vesicles (GUVs) by surface-enhanced Raman scattering by inclusion of gold nanocolloids in them. We confirmed the enhancement of Raman signals of target molecules (bipyridine) in GUVs. This result shows the possibility of sensitive detection of biomolecules, which are incorporated into GUVs by fusion of biological vesicles, using surface-enhanced Raman scattering, and is expected to be utilized as a biosensor.
