Based on previous AFM studies, surface nano(micro)bubbles are considered to have a very flat shape, unlike macro surface bubbles. Here, we directly observed the shape of surface microbubbles using an optical microscope. As a result, no flat bubbles were observed. Furthermore, by controlling the surface tension of the liquid and the wettability of the substrate, we succeeded in forming bubbles with a contact angle of approximately 180 degrees (spherical shape).
