Using NbSe3 crystals, we conducted observations of its decomposition through topotactic reactions under different conditions: air, vacuum, and Ar atmosphere. Our findings revealed that when oxygen was present, O and Se were replaced, resulting in the formation of Nb2O5. In vacuum or Ar atmosphere, NbSe2 was synthesized by the desorption of Se. Under an Ar atmosphere, the crystal transformed into a bulk shape, while in vacuum, it retained its original shape and formed linear NbSe2. The synthesized NbSe2 exhibited a superconducting transition.
