In recent years, there has been much research on optical modes that couple localized surface plasmon with Whispering Gallery Modes (WGM). Our research group has also envisioned a technique to couple excitons in organic thin films with surface plasmons in a WGM resonator. This concept aims to store the energy of coherent excitons generated by the coupling and to actively control the magnitude and use of the energy. In this study, in order to verify the principle of coupling of luminescence, excitons, and plasmons, we evaluated the luminescence properties and simulations of WGM resonator structures consisting of thin metal films and thin films of organic luminescent materials.
