Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are expected to be used as fluorescent nanoparticles to replace conventional quantum dots because they are safer and cheaper than conventional quantum dots that contain harmful heavy metals. Recently, the synthesis of CQDs from natural products has been attracting attention from the viewpoint of environmental friendliness and effective resource utilization. In this presentation, we will report the synthesis, properties, and applied research of CQDs from natural products using simple methods such as pyrolysis and plasma methods.
