Mango axis rot, a disease that infects mango stems and spreads rot to the surrounding area, has become a problem during the distribution process, and preventive methods and techniques for early detection are being investigated. Since there are reports of estimating chlorophyll concentration in plants from chlorophyll fluorescence, we have examined a method of estimating the number of days until the onset of the disease from luminescence spectra, and report here. Chlorophyll fluorescence in the lateral part of the axis of mango was found to correlate to some extent with the onset of axis rot disease.
