Lead (Pb)-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have-appeared as one of the most-promising designs for next-generation low-cost photovoltaic technology, already demonstrating a certified efficiency of over 26% for single-junction solar cells. Pb leakage from damaged PSCs during rainfall poses a serious threat to the environment and human health. In addition, PSC is a thin-film solar cell using plastic substrate, thus the recovery systems that are being considered for use in current silicon solar cells are not available. Here we report a simple technique for recovery Pb from PSCs using a cation exchange resin.
