We constructed a method for analyzing local features of non-periodic and complex image data obtained by scanning probe microscopy. A template was created from the source image, the difference from the image was examined locally, the targeted structure was recognized, and the aliment features of the targeted structure were analyzed. The principle of the analytical method was demonstrated on model structures obtained by lithography and applied to the analysis of the superstructure of adsorbed fullerenes and other data.
