If a cytokine as the protein associated with inflammatory reactions could be measured in a small amount of liquid sample, it could make a significant contribution to blood testing of preterm infants. In this study, we demonstrated the possibility of rapid and selective detection of cytokines with a wide range of concentrations over several orders of magnitude in a µL-level sample using microflow optical condensation, which enables highly efficient antigen-antibody reaction by the synergistic effects of pressure-driven flow in a microfluidic channel and optical pressure from a laser.
