The plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles are strongly dependent on particle size, shape, interparticle distance, and refractive index of the surrounding. Reversible tuning of these parameters leads to active control of plasmon resonance and application of plasmonic nanoparticles such as electrochromic devices, In this study, we demonstrate fast and reversible tuning of plasmonic properties of gold nanoparticle dimers via electrochemical surface oxidation/reduction reactions.
