We are pursuing the application of charged particle detection technology in space using silicon photonic crystals. Photonic crystal sensors are resistant to electrostatic discharges and radiation and can be miniaturized, making them suitable for space applications. Recent experiments have investigated the response of the sensors to electron beams, Xe plasma, and ultraviolet radiation in a vacuum chamber, reporting high reproducibility and promising results for space applications.
