Femtosecond (fs) laser irradiation is a promising technique to generate nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamonds. This technique has been applied only for diamond substrates but not for nanodiamonds (NDs). We irradiated the fs laser for ND suspension and then measured the ESR spectra and photoluminescence intensity using a confocal microscope. Comparing these results before- and after- the irradiation, we consider the fs-laser irradiation generates NV centers in NDs.
