[24p-31B-10] Syngas production from lower aliphatic alcohols by solution plasma treatment

We consider solution plasma as one of the clean gasification technologies, and in this study, we investigated the decomposition behavior of lower aliphatic alcohols in solution plasma. As a result, regardless of the length of alcohols carbon chain, syngas whose main components are H₂ and CO are generated. As an explanation for this result, a pathway which the abundant OH radicals in the solution plasma bond to C atoms in the alkyl chain of alcohol and then decompose, was proposed.
