Plasma catalysis is attracting attention as a promising technology for CO2 valorization based on the electrification of chemical processes. However, the interaction between plasma-activated species and catalysts is not yet fully understood. In this study, we suggest that CO2 methanation performance can be improved by plasma reaction over Ni/Al2O3 at low temperatures. Using kinetic study and in situ/operando transmission infrared absorption spectroscopy-mass spectrometer, it was revealed that atomic hydrogen by plasma is the key factor promoting the reaction.
