Phenol is an import chemical compound, and new efficient and environment-friendly synthesis processes are being researched. We found that phenol is synthesized by irradiating benzene water solution with plasma. Previous studies suggest radicals such as OH⋅ or OOH⋅, derived from nitrite ion and hydrogen peroxide, contribute to phenol synthesis. In this talk the concentration of phenol synthesized by mixing plasma irradiated water with benzene in the presence of OH⋅ scavenger 2-propanol will be reported.
