In this study, we have developed noncentrosymmetric two-dimensional organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite lead iodides by introducing chirality into the organic molecules. Such noncentrosymmetric systems are expected to exhibit the bulk photovoltaic effects (BPVE), which generate zero-bias photocurrent. In fact, BPVE was observed when irradiated with light near the band gap. BPVE was also observed in exciton transitions, which do not produce free carriers.
