Aiming to improve the response characteristics and functionality of photodetectors in the mid-infrared region, we are proposing a mid-infrared superconducting hot electron bolometer (MIR-HEB) using an optical antenna. It has already been reported that it is possible to detect mid-infrared photons using MIR-HEB, but the current effective antenna area is small (6.8 μm2) at 67 THz, and it needs to be expanded. Therefore, this time, we prototyped a mid-infrared array antenna that phase-synthesizes the outputs from multiple slot antennas and evaluated its characteristics.
