One of the most critical issues in achieving long-range spin-wave transmission is how to fabricate materials with low magnetic damping. The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation is well known to describe the magnetization precession, where the magnetic damping is characterized by the Gilbert damping parameter α. Here we report our finding that the Gilbert damping parameter is closely correlated with the size of the perpendicularly magnetized multilayer dots in a multilayer structure consisting of perpendicularly magnetized [Co/Ni] dots and a ferromagnetic Fe film.
