In this talk, different examples of both periodic and aperiodic ML structures with high efficiency and enhanced spectral purity will be discussed, targeting different applications, from solar physics and attosecond science to X-ray sources, such as free electron lasers and high-harmonic generation sources. Among those, both selective and broadband coated mirrors, designed for solar imaging or suitable for table-top X-ray sources will be discussed and theoretical and experimental results will be shown. In addition, our recent development of ML reflective diffraction gratings withhigher efficiency, compared to the few existing ones in the literature and tunable properties in the first order of diffraction will be also shown, presenting particular interest for X-ray imaging spectroscopy as well as interferometry and adaptive optics.
