Continuous-time quantum walk in a synthetic frequency dimension has been experimentally demonstrated using a frequency-stabilized external cavity diode laser and a LiNbO3 phase modulator. In this work, we were able to synthesize a 2-dimensional lattice structure with a gauge field, and the quantum walker dynamics in the synthetic gauge field exhibited breaking of the parity invariance.
