Outdoor operation of perovskite/Si tandem solar cells was reported by some researchers. The PCE-loss was from 7 to 20% for some months or one year in the previous reports. We have reported that sputter deposition of TCO damages perovskite, and it is a reason for a short-lifetime of the tandem PV. And we discovered that the reaction-gas (oxygen) for sputter deposition damaged perovskite, and that reducing reaction-gas was preferable as spattering-condition in 2019. In addition, TCO made on the preferable condition, has blocked ion migration from perovskite. The role of TCO was helpful for the lifetime. Our perovskite/Si tandem PV has showed the highest stability on the light-soaking-test in the world.
We made top cells consisted of TCO as plus/minus electrodes, onto glass substrate using preferable sputtering-condition with the aim of evaluating degradation of the top cell because the top cell is a bottle neck of the lifetime on perovskite/Si tandem PV. And then, we performed 4-months outdoor operation which included a summer season using the top cell. Our top cell showed higher stability than previous reports in an outdoor operation.
