Surface-Enhanced Infrared Absorption (SEIRA) enables the highly sensitive detection of trace molecules by using their molecular vibrations as a "molecular fingerprint." In this study, we applied a multi-wavelength SEIRA device, combining Au crossbar structures of different sizes with a catalytically active ZnO thin film, to the detection of nonanal molecules, a biomarker for lung cancer. In this presentation, we will report our sequential observations, from the characterization of the fabricated device, to the detection of nonanal gas, and finally, to the thermal desorption process induced by heating.
