For the practical application of rare-earth-based high-temperature superconducting (REBCO) tapes, the establishment of a joining technique with low resistance and high reproducibility is essential. We have reported that sonic welding enables reproducible, low-resistance joints. On the other hand, degradation of superconducting properties has been induced by the joining process. In this study, we investigate the factors contributing to the degradation of superconducting properties induced by the sonic welding process, aiming to identify a process window for achieving reliable, low-resistance joints.
