In a system without space and time inversion symmetries, directional birefringence for unpolarized wave is induced. Such an effect is very small but previous studies show that it is strongly enhanced by artificial structures including metamaterials. The studies show a single metamolecule with magnetochiral or magnetoelectric (ME) effects have the effects at room temperature under low dc magnetic fields. This presentation numerically shows that a metasurface with ME effects have a gigantic enhancement of the nonreciprocity in transmittance for unpolarized microwaves.
