Organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) structures using PEDOT:PSS as the channel material are being actively researched for use in biosensors. Among these, there have been reports of sensors for detecting ascorbic acid (AA; vitamin C), an important biological substance. However, there is insufficient understanding at the molecular level of the interaction between AA and PEDOT:PSS during the AA detection process. Therefore, in this study, we report on the effects of AA on PEDOT:PSS during device operation, as investigated using electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy.
