This work presents modifications in the holding structure of our translucent, encapsulant-less vertical mini-modules by changing the previous bar design to a corner design. The two designs were evaluated by comparing their 1-sun illuminated current-density—voltage (JV) characteristics and their EQE spectra.
A higher short-circuit current density was observed in the corner design, but a lower open-circuit voltage and maximum power. This is likely due to the increased cell temperature, as well as the translucent material still allowing light to pass through the bar structure’s covered area. We plan to validate these trends in our full-sized modules.
