To quantitatively evaluate and control the generation of reactive species in dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), numerical simulations are being conducted for a parallel-plate DBD configuration with dielectric layers on both electrodes. To address numerical issues that arise when cathode-directed streamers approach the cathode, various initial and boundary conditions—such as the spatial distribution of seed electrons, applied voltage, particle fluxes to the dielectric surface, and secondary emission—have been examined and discussed.
