We designed bifacial solar modules for vertical installation. We adopted a symmetric triple-junction configuration comprising wide-/narrow-/wide-bandgap submodules to achieve high conversion efficiencies equivalent to those of double-junction modules for both front and rear illuminations. The voltage-matched module consisting of the three parallel-connected submodules, whose maximal-power voltages are designed to be approximately the same by adjusting their respective cell widths, yields high efficiency despite its single output, and is competitive with the six-terminal (triple outputs) module in which the three submodules operate independently.
