We propose a novel method for non-contact manipulation of objects in liquid by utilizing Marangoni convection induced by gas bubbles intentionally generated on the surface of a driving body through laser heating. In this study, we prepared two types of spherical driving bodies: SUS440C stainless steel spheres and glass spheres coated with metal nanoparticles. These spheres were evaluated for their capability to act as driving media for moving target objects such as cells in a liquid environment. In this presentation, we report the evaluation results of the driving performance of these spheres, the stability of the bubbles during motion, the threshold laser intensities required for bubble generation and motion initiation, and the driving forces obtained under various conditions.
