To meet the requirements of high transmittance and compactness in HMD optical elements, a cylindrical-wave volume holographic element was fabricated using vertically shifted multiple exposure. Optical experiments demonstrated vertical expansion of both the field of view and the eyebox of the AR light guide. The effectiveness of the approach was quantitatively evaluated.
