High-power laser sources are essential to the advancement of national defense, aerospace, and remote sensing technologies. However, simultaneously achieving high output power, excellent coherence, and tunable wavelength remains a major challenge in the field of laser technology. Diamond, with its broad optical transparency, high nonlinear gain, exceptional thermal conductivity, and high optical damage threshold, has emerged as an ideal material for next-generation high-power lasers. This report presents our recent research progress on the development and control of diamond-based high-power laser systems. We investigate the increasing demand for optical-grade diamond in advanced photonic applications and demonstrate how the incorporation of stimulated scattering and other nonlinear optical effects can enable the realization of high-power lasers with narrow linewidths, high coherence, and low noise. Additionally, we propose effective approaches to improving the stability and beam quality of diamond lasers, paving the way for their broader application in cutting-edge technologies.
