A variety of external mode conversion techniques, based on diffractive optical elements such as spatial light modulators (SLMs) and digital micro-mirror devices (DMDs), have been developed, and micro-chip laser cavity has been reported to experimentally demonstrate the optical skyrmions, however, they have the limitation of power scalability and mode purity.
To overcome these limitations, we report on the generation of watt-level optical skyrmions from a diode-pumped neodymium-doped yttrium vanadate (Nd: YVO4) laser with a dual-mode output coupling configuration.
